Playa Graphics Discovers New Ways to Capture Surfside Lifestyle with VersaCAMM

Playa Graphics opened in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, in 2005 with a brand new 30” Roland VersaCAMM inkjet printer/cutter and has since made a booming business out of discovering new uses for it.

“I am always coming up with new applications for my VersaCAMM,” said owner Brad Styron. “Its versatility is tremendous.”

Playa Graphics specializes in so many specialties, it’s hard to keep track. An experienced graphic designer and photographer, Styron keeps the 4-color VersaCAMM busy producing signs, banners, labels, decals, vehicle graphics and wraps for his clients that reside and vacation in the popular resort town.

“I am always coming up with new applications for my VersaCAMM,” said owner Brad Styron. “Its versatility is tremendous.”

“Many of our graphics are designed to capture the lifestyle here,” he said. “We produce everything from surfing posters to boat graphics and even surfboard wraps. I’m a surfer so I do a lot of decal printing for all the surf shops in town. It’s a great money maker. The VersaCAMM can make you wealthy just by printing stickers all day.”

Styron also markets his own photography as well as the photography and fine art of others with wide-format giclees produced on the VersaCAMM. In addition, Playa Graphics caters to vacationers and other consumers that come to his shop to turn their personal photographs into large VersaCAMM prints.

A one-man shop, Styron designs, prints and installs all the graphics himself, and continues to look for new ways to expand the business. Like many businesses today, Playa Graphics is capitalizing on the opportunities in cyberspace.

“I sell giclees online and am working on a new product line which will allow businesses and consumers to order large repositionable wall graphics for advertising and interior decor,” he said. “I love the VersaCAMM. There isn’t anything it can’t do.”
