Adding Impact with Flatbed Printing

Impact Sign Company   |   Hillsboro, Oregon

James Atwood, graphic artist for Impact Sign Company in Hillsboro, Oregon, was looking for a way to satisfy his clients who needed flatbed printing.  “Our clients had been asking for more direct print options,” said Atwood. “Until now, we’ve had to oursource those projects.”

To bring flatbed production in-house, Impact Sign chose the Roland LEJ-640FT 64-inch flatbed UV printer. “The LEJ-640FT gives us the range to print on aluminum and metal composites as well as full sheets of Coroplast and PVC,” he said. “We get great print quality, and we don’t have to wait on or worry about outsourcing.

“It’s great to have the ability to print directly on standard rigid materials as well as unique objects.”

“We’ve always been an exclusively Roland shop.  We love the quality and the great tech support.“ Impact also has a Roland SOLJET PRO 4 XR-640 64-inch printer/cutter and a CAMM-1 Pro GX-640 64-inch cutter.

Impact Sign is a full service sign shop, producing indoor, outdoor and wayfinding signage, tradeshow displays, vehicle graphics, wall and window graphics, flags, banners, decals and labels. They serve small businesses, real estate developers, and restaurants including Jamba Juice and McDonald’s along with high school athletic teams and political campaigns.

One of their highest profile clients is the local minor league baseball team, the Hillsboro Hops. When the Hops moved to town, Impact assisted with a complete re-branding campaign, including wall graphics, signage, and even graphics for the top of the dugout, to give the team a local feel.

“We have been able to produce some really creative designs for the upcoming season,” said Atwood.  “It’s great to have the ability to print directly on standard rigid materials as well as unique objects.

“We run the LEJ-640FT as much as possible. Because it’s a Roland, I can set up a print and know exactly how it’s going to turn out.  No mistakes, no reprints.” said Atwood.
